Myngle and the Compare Group

One example of two companies that found each other on IntroNiche.com, are Myngle and the Compare Group.

Myngle is a classifieds site focusing on language teachers and students. If you want to learn Spanish for instance, you can use Myngle to find a proper teacher.

The Compare Group on the other hand runs product price comparison websites in The Netherlands, Belgium and Finland. It allows users to compare prices from different stores for just about any product.

As The Compare Group was looking for a nice prize for its online contest, Myngle offered several free online language courses in exchange for the extra traffic that it would bring to its site. This was clearly a win-win deal: the deal brought Myngle the extra traffic that startups need to get their business going. For The Compare Group, the contest was a very effective way to improve its customer’s loyalty.

Stéphane Deubel, marketing manager at the Compare Group, elaborates the deal: “We agreed on an exposure and promotion exchange on the following terms: Myngle provides the Compare Group with several free language learning packages. These will be used as an incentive in the holiday campaign to the Compare Group members. The Compare Group will promote this incentive on it's Finnish website and through the Dutch newsletter (sent to 40.000 subscribers). Myngle will sponsor these language-learning packages. Next to that, Myngle will support and promote The Compare Group’s activities around Euro 2008 on it's blog and website”

The advantages of cross marketing are clear: both companies enjoyed promotion from a credible non competing source and saved marketing costs by doing a barter deal. They were also able to focus a campaign on their shared niche of regular Internet users across Europe.
